Calib Smith to Caleb Daugherty Band

0

Caleb Daugherty has announced a new member of his touring band. Calib Smith has joined the group after Zach Collier departed for a gig with Volume Five.

This past few years Caleb has made a name for himself in bluegrass circles for his soulful singing and knack for choosing material that suits his rich baritone voice. A similarity to the classic sound of Keith Whitley has been remarked upon, unsurprising given Caleb’s strong affinity its for Keith’s music.

Daugherty says that the move finds him with mixed emotions, glad for his friend Zach to try his hand somewhere new, but yet sorry to see him go.

“Zach was a founding member of the Caleb Daugherty Band, and what a time it has been! I am thankful for all the good times we’ve had. I’m also excited for his new opportunities, and I wish him the best in his new endeavors!”

Smith joins the group having played bass in both classical and bluegrass settings. He is also an experienced banjo and guitar player, having worked with Zach Top & Modern Tradition and New Balance.

For Daugherty, Smith brings new passion and material to the job.

“I’m very excited to have Calib join the band! He is a multi-instrumentalist and will be a great asset to the band. He has played a few shows with us already, and I am pumped to have his energy and stage presence with the band.

Just to add to it, he’s a great song writer and already sent me 4 or 5 songs he’s written.

Welcome to the band Calib!”

Smith joins Caleb on guitar, Zion Napier on mandolin, Kyle Clerking on banjo, and Kyle Ramey on fiddle.

Keep an eye on the official Caleb Daugherty web site for a chance to catch them in person when they play near you.
