Christmas Carol – new single from Caleb Daugherty

KDM Records has released a seasonal single for Caleb Daugherty, his take on country singer Skip Ewing’s lovely ballad, Christmas Carol.

The song, written by Ewing and a committee consisting of Bruce Burch, Donald Burch, Johnny MacRae, Mickey Clark, and Steve Clark, tells a forlorn story in three verses about a little girl living in an orphanage. She tells a department store Santa one year that all she wants for Christmas is a family of her own, and it affects him deeply over the course of the time leading up to Christmas day.

Christmas Carol was a minor hit for Ewing in 1995, making it almost halfway up the Country Top 100 charts, and was included on his Following Yonder Star album that year.

Caleb said that he and his band loved the song, and chose it for their 2021 Christmas release.

“We first heard Christmas Carol by Skip Ewing and really enjoyed the song, and the message it gave to its listeners. We feel that this song does a great job encompassing the true meaning of Christmas, and hope everyone enjoys our version. Happy Holidays!”

If you are vulnerable to this sort of sad, feel-good story, grab a hankie before listening.

The Caleb Daugherty Band is Caleb on guitar and lead vocals, Zion Napier on mandolin, Kyle Ramey on fiddle, Kyle Clerkin on banjo, and Calib Smith on bass. Ramey and Napier provided harmony vocals on this track.

Their version of Christmas Carol is available now from popular download and streaming sites online. Radio programmers will find the track at AirPlay Direct.
