Elton John has tested positive for COVID-19 and has postponed his scheduled U.S. tour.
The 74-year-old British singer announced the news via Instagram. “Hi everyone, wanted to send a message to let you know that I have contracted COVID and so have had to reschedule my shows in Dallas,” the singer writes. “If you have tickets, you’ll be contacted with the new dates really soon.”
“It’s always a massive disappointment to move shows, and I’m so sorry to anyone who’s been inconvenienced by this but I want to keep myself and my team safe.”
“Fortunately, I’m fully vaccinated and boosted, and my symptoms are mild so I’m fully expecting to be able to make the Arkansas shows this weekend. As always, thank you for all your love and support and I can’t wait to see you all soon!”
Elton John was slated to perform in Dallas for two shows on Tuesday and Wednesday. The tour website encourages fans who have tickets for those dates to hold onto them for their rescheduled dates.
The ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour was announced in 2018 as Elton John’s final live tour. But the coronavirus pandemic postponed the tour. Elton John also suffered a hip injury that postponed the tour until 2021.
John had only recently returned to the stage to perform before contracting COVID-19. Elton John is slated to appear at the Simmons Bank Arena in Little Rock on January 29 and at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK the following night.
