Mando swap for Special Consensus… welcome Michael Prewitt

0

Special Consensus has announced a change in their lineup, with Nate Burie departing from his mandolin position with the band, and Michael Prewitt stepping in to fill that spot.

Banjo picker and band leader, Greg Cahill, bid a fond farewell last night to Nate as his tenure with Special C came to an end.

“Today we say goodbye to Nate Burie, our great mandolin player, singer, and friend for nearly two years. He appeared on our Chicago Barn Dance recording and we enjoyed his company and friendship throughout his tenure in the band. We wish him all the best in his pursuit to follow his path with heart.”

At the same time, Greg offered a warm reception to Prewitt, who joins Cahill on banjo, Greg Blake on guitar, and Dan Eubanks on bass.

“We are very happy to welcome our new mandolin player/singer, Michael Prewitt! He is a fabulous mandolin player and singer, originally from Kentucky and now residing in Minnesota. Michael will begin touring with us next week, playing with us at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis, MN on October 29, and then at the Three Lakes Center for the Arts in Three Lakes, WI on October 30.

C’mon out to say hello and to meet Michael!”

Prewitt had been working with Back Up and Push, a bluegrass group based in Minneapolis, and had taught private music lessons at Kenny’s Music Shoppe in Grand Forks, ND while he was teaching at the University of North Dakota.

Until Michael joins the band, Rick Faris is filling in with Special C, in his original role as mandolinist.
