Morgan Wallen ended 2021 at the top of the hip-hop charts thanks to his collab with Lil Durk, “Broadway Girls.”

The track came out just before the Christmas holiday and topped the charts. Following that success, Wallen appeared in a Clubhouse talk show hosted by Druski to discuss the win – and the slur incident from February was not brought up once. Instead, Variety reports that the conversation focused on the future of country/hip-hop crossovers, fishing, and dating.

During the conversation, Wallen admits he loves hip-hop music and that Moneybagg Yo is his current favorite rapper. When asked about his ideal collaborator, Wallen had a few rappers in mind.

“I do love Moneybagg; he’s definitely at the top of the list,” Wallen told Druski. “But like overall, ever I’m trying to think of not just in the past little bit – Kendrick Lamar would be pretty cool.”

When asked about what he’s been listening to, Wallen delves into his hip-hop faves from Spotify. “Honestly, my top stuff on Spotify was all hip-hop, Moneybagg is probably my favorite. And I listened to a lot of Young Dolph – RIP. I listened to Drake’s new album. I listen to Kanye; I’ve been listening to a little but of Gunna. I like him pretty good.”

Druski continued the conversation by asking Morgan Wallen how the hip-hop collab “Broadway Girls” came to life.

“That song kind of came about over this summer, and I was really, really, really pumped on it,” Wallen says. “Durk commented on my Instagram, so I hit him up. Me and him had been talking a little bit throughout the year and kind of developed a friendship.”

While the hosts refrained from making references to the slur controversy from earlier this year, the audience did ask about it. “On ‘Good Morning America’, you pledged around $500,000 to Black Lives Matter charities. How did you decide on which charities?” one audience member asked.

The Black Music Action Coalition was the recipient of the majority of those funds at $300,000. Another $100,000 went to Rock Against Racism and the remaining $100,000 was earmarked before the end of the year.
