Memphis-based rapper Pooh Shiesty has pled guilty to conspiring to possess firearms in furtherance of violent crimes and drug trafficking.

Pooh Shiesty (real name Lontrell D. Williams, Jr.) plead guilty as part of a plea deal, admitting to participating in three different occasions. His sentencing will come at a later date.

  • July 7, 2020 | Pooh Shiesty was inside a car when an occupant discharged a firearm at a gas station.
  • October 9, 2020 | The rapper and his co-conspirators arrived in Harbor Islands, FL, to acquire marijuana, codeine, and sneakers. The group assaulted two victims and stole the items.
  • March 30, 2021 | The rapper is accused of assaulting a victim with a firearm at a strip club in Miami.

If sentenced, Pooh Shiesty faces up to 20 years in federal prison for his part in these incidents.

United States District Judge K. Michael Moore will sentence the rapper at a later date. The 22 year-old rapper was able to avoid a life sentence by pleading guilty to the charges. Attorneys for both sides have recommended a sentence of around eight years.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped three charges. One of those dropped charges carried a possible maximum sentence of life in prison. Pooh Shiesty first rose to national stardom following his collaborations with Gucci Mane. His debut mixtape Shiesty Season was released in February 2021. It peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts.

While the rapper has been behind bars at Miami’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, he’s still been busy creating music. Shiesty dropped his “Federal Contraband” track at the end of 2021. In it, the Memphis rapper reflects on his case.

“I got locked, ni**as stoppe doin’ shit, they wouldn’t if I was ’round/
Like they happy I went federal, see what that hate about/
I’ma make sure your fingers get cut off since you count me out/
My granddaddy passed away the other day, I just found out/
Shit crazy, rest in peace, you’ll forever live through me,”
