The Weeknd is dropping Dawn FM, the follow-up album to 2020’s After Hours, later this week.

The artist revealed a new trailer for the album on Twitter, featuring clips of the musician. “A new sonic universe from the mind of the Weeknd,” the trailer’s description teases. It also reveals the album will feature collabs with Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Jim Carrey.

The Weeknd teased the name of his latest album in May 2021 upon accepting his Billboard Music Award. “I just want to say the After Hours are done, and The Dawn is coming,” The Weeknd said during his acceptance speech. Yesterday, he implored fans on Twitter to “wake up at dawn tomorrow.”

The Canadian singer dropped “Take My Breath” back in August as the first teaser of his post-After Hours work. But soon, the single had to be pulled from movie theaters due to seizure concerns. In an interview in November, the Weeknd confirmed the album was finished, and he was just waiting for a few pieces to come together. Jim Carrey has even tweeted about the upcoming album, arriving on January 7.

“I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel @theweeknd last night,” Carrey wrote on Twitter on Monday. “It was deep and elegant, and it danced me around the room. I’m thrilled to play a part in his symphony.” The Weeknd responded to the actor’s praise, saying, “Thank you for being a part of this. It’s kismet. Full circle.”

The Weeknd told GQ that Jim Carrey showed up for his 30th birthday celebration, and the two became friends. “On my 30th birthday, he surprised me,” the magazine reports.

“He pulled up to my crib and took me to breakfast. He lived literally like two building down from me and he had a telescope, and I had a telescope. [Carrey] was like, ‘Where do you live? What floor do you live on?’ And we looked out the windows on our telescope, and we could see each other.”
