Twitter Restricts The Game’s Account After Rapper Calls Interscope a ‘Modern Day Slave Trade’

The California rapper took to Twitter late on January 28th to beef with Interscope. “F—ck Interscope, the rapper tweeted. “I meant it when I said it 17 years ago and I mean it today!!!! They’re runnin’ a modern day slave trade and they steal from every single artist. Best decision of my life was parting ways. #StayIndependent.”
Game’s last release on Interscope Records came in 2012 with the release of Jesus Piece.
Twitter shortly restricted the rapper’s account, likely due to his avatar image. Twitter’s sensitive media policy says users cannot use images that are “excessively gory or share violent or adult content” through any means. Before the restriction, the rapper was using an avatar of his Ye collab, “Eazy.” The cover art features a graphic photograph of a skinned monkey.
The Compton rapper is hard at work on his forthcoming Drillmatic album, drawing inspiration from Nas. Several artists like Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Diddy, and Quavo are confirmed to appear on the album. Game is working on Drillmatic with Hit-Boy, but there’s no word on a release date for it.
“Nas & Premo, Swizz & X, Hov & Just Blaze, Game & Hit, after this album,” the rapper tweeted this weekend. (Before deciding to beef with Interscope.) Game also shared an image of him and Hit-Boy hard at work in the studio on the album.
“Eazy” has been the Game’s highest-charting single in almost 15 years, debuting at #49 on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s Game’s best debut since 2008 when the Lil Wayne collab “My Life” dropped.
The Game released five solo albums on Interscope including The Documentary, Doctor’s Advocate, LAX, The R.E.D. Album, and Jesus Piece. Since then, he’s dropped The Documentary 2, The Documentary 2.5, 1992, and Born 2 Rap via Entertainment One. Game confirmed he was leaving Interscope Records in 2013 in a sit-down interview with Larry King.
