Eric Bellinger pays tribute to his late mother on his new single “Just Like You.”
On the heartfelt track, produced by Troy Oliver and Troy Taylor, Bellinger sings about carrying on her legacy through all he’s learned.
“Everything I am I owe it all to you / Momma, you gave me faith, so I believed / Before I seen it through my eyes / And now I’m who I am ‘Cause I wanted to be just like you,” he sings.
Regarding “Just Like You,” Bellinger tells Rated R&B, “This song is the most important record on the album. This is the song that defines my entire existence. The song that made me, inspired by the person who created me. My beautiful, loving, praying, God-fearing mom. I am who I am because I always wanted to be Just Like Her.”

“Just Like You” is the second single from Bellinger’s upcoming self-titled album, due this year via Tamla/Capitol Records. He announced his new label home in March, with the release of the vulnerable lead single “Cry In Front of You.”
“I couldn’t be more excited about teaming up with Rodney Jerkins and Tamla/Motown,” said Bellinger. “To have such a full circle moment like this is not only God’s doing, but also a testament to his timing. Had this opportunity come any sooner, I’m not sure if I would’ve been as ready as I am now.”
Eric Bellinger will follow 2025’s It All Makes Sense, the sequel to 2024’s It’ll All Make Sense Later.
Bellinger is currently on an intimate headlining tour, which wraps up May 24 in Los Angeles, before he heads back on the road for more shows in the summer and fall.
