In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we would like to introduce you to artists Harry Gray and MK Zulu and their joint album titled One More Time.
Five years after first discovering their creative chemistry, Harry Gray and MK Zulu have unveiled One More Time, a stunning collaborative album that pays tribute to the timeless power of soul music while pushing the genre into fresh territory. Out now, the ten-track project is a rich and rewarding body of work that highlights the duo’s artistic growth and their shared commitment to crafting music that transcends trends.
The story of One More Time began shortly after the two musicians met while studying music at university. Their first collaboration, “Like You,” was a romance-inspired track built around their mutual love for rhythm-driven soul. That song laid the foundation for a partnership rooted in musicianship and authenticity. Now, five years later, a vibrant new version of the track, “Like You (Funky Version),” finds its place on an album that captures the evolution of both artists.
Drawing inspiration from soul icons like D’Angelo and Chaka Khan, One More Time effortlessly blends elements of funk, soul, R&B and hip hop. The result is an album that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. Rich instrumentation, smooth grooves and genre-blurring production give the project a timeless quality that makes every song feel inviting and alive.
From the opening moments of “Soul Train,” featuring TurnUpDeAnte, listeners are immersed in a world of irresistible rhythms and warm melodies. The track sets the tone perfectly, delivering an intoxicating introduction to an album built for pure vibes. Elsewhere, mellow standouts like “Tango,” “Good to Me” and the LaVonne-assisted “Closer 2 U” showcase the duo’s ability to create smooth, soulful moments that flow effortlessly.
Meanwhile, songs such as “Thirsty,” “Passport Baby” and “Party,” featuring Coby Williams, inject a sexy, dancefloor-ready energy into the mix. Guest appearances from rising talents including La’Vonne, TurnUpDeAnte and Coby Williams add fresh perspectives throughout the record, each artist bringing their own flavour while complementing the album’s cohesive vision.
For Grammy-nominated musician MK Zulu, whose impressive résumé includes a nomination alongside composer Carlos Simon for Requiem for the Enslaved, the project represents another chapter in a career defined by collaboration and excellence. Alongside Harry Gray, he has created something special; an album that honors the rich legacy of soul while offering listeners something undeniably fresh.
Smooth, groovy and overflowing with musicality, One More Time is more than just a collection of songs. It is a celebration of soul music’s enduring spirit and a testament to the chemistry between two gifted musicians who understand the beauty of making timeless records.
