Fenix Flexin’s viral single “Rubberz” has sparked an internet-wide AI debate, but even after a new Channel 5 breakdown, fans still can’t decide what’s real.
Fenix Flexin is the debate right now and it has been going on for quite some time. “Rubberz” actually real, because people are saying it is not. The Shoreline Mafia rapper has a synth-heavy British sounding croon people are convinced the track was generated with artificial intelligence. He’s been out there for years and this is the attention he gets? Yep.
Now, Fenix is fighting back against those claims.
A new Channel 5 video dropped showing the Los Angeles rapper singing portions of “Rubberz” a cappella. He does not sound that good to me but he makes a compelling argument on how he freaked the British accent. Some continue to debate.
Here’s that interview:

The skepticism started weeks ago when snippets of the song surfaced online. Fans immediately questioned whether the vocals were authentic or AI. Fenix didn’t exactly slam the door on the accusation, in fact, he helped keep the dialogue going. I’m thinking this is marketing at this point.
He said it was upbringing:
“I could understand [why people think it’s AI] ’cause the music we make is so far left. For someone to hear this type of music and it be all the way over here, they’re probably like, ‘How the f### does he even understand what this music is?’ But it comes down to my childhood. I wake up, that’s what Pops is listening to.”
Fenix, in the comments, has said what he said with a twist:

“Rubberz” may be a completely new twist for this dude.
The internet remains unconvinced. They say this is not him, after having years of watching him evolve.
Personally, I hope this is exactly what Fenix says it is: a rapper taking a creative risk and confusing everybody in the process. That would be doper than an AI-generated experiment. 2026, ya’ll.
