deadmau5 and Lights serve up another dynamic collaboration together, “When The Summer Dies,” out today on mau5trap.
Following up their massive 2018 release, “drama free,” the bar was set high for their second collab and they’ve exceeded expectations once again. Thankfully, the song has unleashed well before the Summer has died, giving us enough time to play it out into oblivion.
Equipped with gritty synths and an electro groove reminiscent of the most nostalgic deadmau5 records, “When The Summer Dies” demands attention from the jump. Lights provides a standout vocal performance, complete with a twisted singalong chorus and an ominous hook laced with black smoke.
Playing with darkness and upbeat energy, deadmau5 and Lights provide one of the most exciting collaborations we’ve heard in recent memory.
