Live event audio company Mixhalo – which was founded by Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and his wife, violinist Ann Marie Simpson-Einziger – has announced the completion of a $24 million Series B.

The five-year-old audio platform unveiled its multimillion-dollar Series B, which follows a $10.7 million Series A from July of 2019, via a formal release today. “Funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group” led this latest raise, which also drew support from L-Acoustics, Mixhalo’s “exclusive professional audio partner.”

A number of Mixhalo’s Series A backers, including but not limited to Founders Fund and concert-production company Another Planet Entertainment, likewise participated in the Series B, capital from which “will be used to scale up all aspects of the business, from engineering and marketing to growing the team.”

On this front, the San Francisco-headquartered company has already “made a series of key engineering hires,” the release discloses, in addition to naming Dana Jewell general counsel. The former Dell, General Mills, Ebay, and Chegg attorney Jewell is set to “work closely with the commercial team to shape and close new deals, drive Mixhalo’s intellectual property strategy,” and more.

Building upon the latter, the detailed announcement message also notes that “Mixhalo was recently selected to provide the live audio experience for TSX Entertainment,” which the aforementioned Fortress as well as former Spotify exec Nick Holmsten founded.

Under the deal, TSX Entertainment is poised to utilize Mixhalo technology at TSX Broadway, which the document describes as “a $2.5 billion purpose-built, entire-building, immersive branding, retail, hospitality and entertainment project” in Times Square. TSX Broadway is reportedly expected to open in Q1 2023.

Regarding Mixhalo’s traction ahead of the relatively far-off date, though, the likes of Sting (at his Las Vegas residency), Aerosmith, the Crypto.com Arena, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the NBA’s Sacramento Kings have utilized the audio-focused company’s technology, according to higher-ups.

This technology, the multifaceted Series B release elaborates, “delivers pristine, high-quality audio and other data in real time to attendees at concerts” and different live events, with guests, regardless of their proximity to the stage, using “their phone, headphones and the free Mixhalo mobile app to unlock crystal-clear, real-time audio coming straight from the soundboard.”

Addressing his company’s Series B – and the many changes that the last two years have brought about in the entertainment space – Mixhalo CEO John Vars said: “It’s been a tough couple of years for the entertainment industry, but we’ve persevered by staying focused on improving our product while securing key partnerships along the way.

“Now that live sports and entertainment have returned, and we have a fresh $24 million in the bank, we can reinforce our ranks with incredible talents like Dana who will help us unlock the magic of Mixhalo and delight fans everywhere,” finished the former Say Media exec.
