Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan fame is teaming up with Diadora and Foot Locker to benefit local communities with shoes.

The certified ‘sneak freak’ has designed a series of product drops that will also benefit local communities. With each drop, Raekwon, Diadora, and Foot Locker will provide local musicians with the tools, resources, and knowledge they need to elevate themselves.

“I concepted Community Linx because I wanted to bring music and sneaker culture together in a meaningful way,” says Raekwon. “I’m thankful that Diadora and Foot Locker believed in my vision. Together, we aim to inspire the next generation of music talent by providing them with tools and resources to hone their craft.”

“I can’t wait to hear their work. Every sneaker capsule represents the hustle of each city and hopefully serves as a reminder to keep chasing your dreams.”

The Community Linx initiative begins with a universal Diadora N9002 and an NYC-inspired Diadora N9002. The shoes will be available in men’s sizes at Foot Locker and Champs Sports starting January 27. Raekwon has selected 16 musicians from New York City for an invite-only, four-week beat-making course hosted by DJ and producer Scram Jones.

“Each participant will receive invaluable insight into the beat-making process, from using different tools to mixing and mastering a track,” reads the press release.

The Raekwon Community Linx drop for NYC features shoes modeled to match the uniforms of the Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets.

“When I think of New York, I think of the Knicks, the Nets. These colors, from a sports perspective and me growing up being a fan of the Knicks, I felt like they resonated with the city,” Raekwon told Complex.

“People know me for wearing loud colors and just being flavorful. I call it being flavorful. I just felt like these colors resonated with what I wanted it to be and I wanted people to feel that excitement when they threw a pair of sneakers on.”

Additional drops will arrive throughout the year, honoring cities across the United States. Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston are all slated to get their own Community Linx drops.
