Rumor Alert! Kanye West and Mobb Deep’s Havoc may be working on music together!
Kanye West may have found an unlikely running mate for his next musical chapter, and if the whispers are true, this one could catch a lot of people off guard.
Some of us are still trying to figure out exactly where Ye stands in the culture. Is he canceled? Is he misunderstood? Is he thriving in some alternate universe where controversy fuels creativity? The answer seems to depend on who you ask and what country you’re standing in.
Some continue to embrace him, others are keeping their distance. He keeps moving regardless, keeps touring and keeps generating money. So, let’s get to the rumor.
A few weeks back, we all (those of us with that sort of eagle-eye) noticed that Havoc of Mobb Deep fame was overseas spending time at a Kanye West show. At first glance, it seemed random. Now word is circulating that the two may actually be working on music together. Oh yeah, and you might as well take that to the bank with Illseed’s name on it. I’m letting you know.
This was definitely not on my bingo card for 2026. By the way, I do not know if it is a whole album or a song or two.
Think about it. Havoc’s production helped define an entire era of New York Hip-Hop. His sound is cold, cinematic and street. Kanye, on the other hand, has spent the better part of two decades reinventing himself. That includes alienating his core audience. A collaboration between them could be fascinating. Game changing!
I think Kanye gets reconnected with a purer form of Hip-Hop. Hav gets an upside too. But if Ye is searching for a musical reset, linking with Havoc is not a bad place to start. The Mobb Deep, QB General brings credibility that cannot be manufactured.
Personally, I have not been checking for Kanye the way I once did. Maybe that’s because of the controversies. Maybe it’s simply the passage of time. Either way, the mystique that once made him feel untouchable has faded.
If Havoc is involved, my curiosity is officially activated.
And if they really are cooking up an album together, I might have to pay attention again.
Now that I think about it… they been working so maybe not.
