T.I. is turning his back on Verzuz, calling the platform “poor people activity” as final album, Kill The King, is set to drop.
Once upon a time, T.I. wanted to do a Verzuz, but he changed his mind.
T.I. and Verzuz were once viewed as a perfect match but the King says he has little interest in stepping into the battle arena anymore.
During a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, T.I. dismissed the idea of participating in Verzuz, even thought it was a showcase for some of music’s most celebrated catalogs
For years, T.I. wanted all the smoke with 50 Cent. At the time, he said few artists could match his hit-making résumé. I think he was right. But with that matchup never materialized. And so, his views have changed accordingly.
“I don’t want to indulge in that side of life no more. I ain’t even interested, bruh. Ain’t no money over there in that sh#t, bruh. That sh#t poor people activity,” T.I. said. “I’m 45. What I’m doing going back-and-forth with a n###a, man? Like, for what, bro?”
Joe and them pushed back, almost instantly.
Joe Budden and his co-hosts argued that Verzuz was never solely about competition. They – rightfully so – said the platform is a celebration of artists’ contributions to music. It also gives us poor people the opportunity to revisit classic records.
T.I., shifting again, maintained that he’d need a substantial payday to do it. Well, well now. I don’t know what to say about this. He might be a bit sore that 50 Cent never gave him the time of day. I most certainly could be wrong.
Then they went down a potential Verzuz matchup with Jeezy. Unlike 50 Cent, T.I. acknowledged that a Verzuz alongside Jeezy could have been more positive. I also think Tip wanted to take down a New York Giant. He came in super hot!
There was a lot more jibber jabber. You guys can watch the clips for yourself.

This feels off to me. Maybe Tip was having a bad day. Kill The King is on deck.
This is his final studio album and the project is scheduled to arrive June 26. As we revealed the opus features YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Summer Walker, Usher, 2 Chainz and Jeezy. I am hearing this is his best album ever. Powerful words and a great way to go out for Tip.
I believe his is far more focused on legacy, business and his comedy.
