Jay-Z plots an intimate HBO documentary with Rick Rubin and a worldwide concert celebration honoring Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and three decades of Hip-Hop greatness.
Jay-Z plans to take people behind the music while continuing one of the biggest celebration years of his career.
The iconic mogul is set to star in “JAŸ-Z In 8,” an eight-part HBO documentary series debuting this fall. Directed by legendary producer Rick Rubin, the series will feature in-depth conversations exploring Jay-Z’s music, lyrics, life experiences and creative process.
The collaboration reunites the pair more than two decades after Rubin produced Jay-Z’s classic “99 Problems” for The Black Album in 2003.
Produced by Tetragrammaton, “JAŸ-Z In 8“ is executive produced by Jay, actor Daniel Kaluuya and Rick Rubin. Leila Mattimore and David Rohde serve as producers.
The documentary arrives during what has become a milestone year for the Roc Nation founder. Throughout 2026, Jay-Z has celebrated the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint with a series of performances and special events around the world.
He officially returned to the stage in May as the headliner of the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, delivering a career-spanning set packed with both blockbuster hits and deep album cuts. The hometown celebration featured appearances by Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Memphis Bleek, Jazmine Sullivan, Bilal and Young Gunz.
The festivities continue next month with a three-night residency at Yankee Stadium. The July 10 concert will celebrate Reasonable Doubt, followed by a July 11 performance dedicated to The Blueprint. Jay-Z will wrap up the weekend on July 12 with a set highlighting the biggest records from across his catalog.
The anniversary celebration will also stretch beyond the United States this fall. Jay-Z has scheduled two additional “Jay-Z 30” performances, beginning Sept. 10 in Paris before concluding Oct. 23 in Los Angeles.
