BET has announced via official press release the return of its annual Black + Iconic Soirée, taking place Saturday, May 23, 2026, at MGM National Harbor in Maryland. The event continues its mission of celebrating the intersection of the Black and LGBTQ+ communities while honoring influential voices, changemakers, and cultural leaders making an impact.
Emmy-nominated actress and advocate Laverne Cox will host the evening, while comedian and content creator Lavelle Dontae will lead the red carpet festivities. Grammy-nominated singer Tweet is also set to deliver a special performance during the celebration.
The Black + Iconic Soirée will feature an awards dinner, live performances, and powerful moments recognizing individuals whose work continues to uplift and advance the Black LGBTQ+ community. BET says the event is designed to celebrate authenticity, amplify important stories, and honor leaders helping shape culture and inspire future generations.
“As we continue to champion Black culture and create spaces that celebrate authenticity and impact, the Black + Iconic Soirée remains a powerful reflection of the voices and leaders driving meaningful change,” said Tiyale Hayes, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Audience Development, Paramount Television Entertainment Group.
Select moments from the evening will also be captured for a pre-taped streaming experience.
