DJ Akademiks and Daphne Joy have the internet buzzing after their flirty interview seemingly turned into a real-life date, but is it romance or another viral performance?
DJ Akademiks probably never imagined a virtual interview become the internet’s messiest “maybe” romances, but here we are. The gossip machine is working overtime after AK was seen with Daphne Joy, the same woman whose name has been attached to both 50 Cent and Sean “Diddy” Combs for different reasons.
It started with an interview. Akademiks and Daphne had chemistry during their online conversation. There was enough flirting to make us raise an eyebrow. I saw it as content. And yet, the incels were thinking it could be real.

Daphne later admitted she would be open to dating Akademiks, praising his sense of humor. She said he made her feel comfortable. More recently, they were photographed together and it looked like an actual date. Akademiks seemed more than happy to let the internet speculate.
Akademiks reportedly joked about using a honey pack during the encounter. What the hell is that? LOL! Was this really two adults exploring a new relationship? Or was this another carefully produced internet storyline designed to rack up millions of impressions? I think it was the latter. These people are all cappin’ in my opinion.
Everyone involved understands how social media works. Conversation creates engagement. Engagement creates money.
Period.
Then there is the elephant in the room. Daphne is linked to 50 Cent and Diddy. 50 shares a son with her, and Diddy’s penchant for “freak-offs” has caused legal issues that involved Daphne. An explicit recording involving Diddy was distributed without her consent, she said. It is all over the internet too. Sad.
So where does AK fit into all of this? Pause.
Don’t expect 50 Cent to stay quiet forever. And Diddy’s somehow missing, according to his lawyers.
There’s got to be a better way for Hip-Hop.
