Johnny Gill is back with another smooth jam for the yearners. His new single, “A Dance, A Kiss,” is as romantic as the title suggests, with luxe horns and percussion that sways.
The Snoop Dogg and Soopafly production sets the mood for a candlelit night of slow dancing and passionate gazes. Gill’s resonant vocals heighten the sensation, making it an essential playlist addition for moments of shared intimacy.
He sings in the chorus: “A dance, a kiss / Steps to the rhythm of the stars above / A love, a kiss / We found the family of / Time marched on.”
Speaking on “A Dance, A Kiss,” which arrives on Gill’s 60th birthday (May 22), he shares, “I love giving intimate storytelling through my music and this song is just that. You’re getting sexiness, seduction and more! I was inspired to go back into the studio after I got back off the road with The New Edition Way Tour.” He adds, “‘A Dance, A Kiss’ makes everything unforgettable. Grown folks music!”
Gill co-wrote “A Dance, A Kiss” with Snoop Dogg, Soopafly and Justin Randall Keitt. It follows 2025’s “One Night,” another grown-and-sexy jam released in late summer.
“‘One Night’ is a song that is just traditional R&B,” Gill said. “I did not try to chase or try to be trendy, I just decided that in the space and place that I am in, I wanted to just get back into recording and expressing myself creatively with music and this is where I am at, this is what it is for me right now and I hope that my fans really truly enjoy it.”
“One Night” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in February, tallying Gill’s fourth chart-topper. His previous visit to the top was in 2022 for his feature on Charlie Wilson’s “No Stoppin’ Us,” alongside Babyface and K-Ci Hailey.
Both “A Dance, A Kiss” and “One Night” are Gill’s first solo releases since his 2019 album, Game Changer II.
