Offset walked away from criminal charges with probation and community service after a weed shop altercation that could’ve landed him in serious legal trouble.
The Migos member got a light sentence on the assault case stemming from a March 2025 incident at MedMen LAX, where security guard Jim Sanchez claimed things got physical.
According to TMZ, the court ordered him to serve 12 months of probation, stay away from the dispensary, complete anger management classes, and perform community service.
The incident itself came down to conflicting stories about what actually happened that day. Sanchez claimed Offset became hostile when asked to show his ID, then allegedly hit him in the face and had others join in on the attack.

Sanchez said he ended up hospitalized with injuries from the altercation. Offset’s version was completely different.
He denied the assault allegations and said the guard spit on him first, which sparked the whole confrontation.
The court’s decision to go with probation instead of jail time suggests the judge found reasonable doubt in the prosecution’s case.
But the criminal case is only half the problem for Offset right now.
Sanchez is also suing him in civil court over the same incident, and Offset fired back with his own counter-lawsuit seeking over $25,000 in damages. That civil battle is still ongoing as of July 2026, meaning this weed shop situation isn’t finished yet.
Beyond the dispensary drama, Offset’s been dealing with a stack of legal headaches throughout 2026.
He settled a massive $1.5 million tax debt in December 2025 after the IRS had him on the hook for years.
Then in March, the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit sued him for an unpaid $100,000 gambling debt tied to a credit line he opened.
His team said they’re working toward a resolution on that one.
Things got even worse when Offset was shot outside a Florida casino on April 6, just one week after the casino debt lawsuit hit, with rapper Lil Tjay charged in connection with the shooting.
The probation sentence keeps Offset out of prison, but the civil suit from Sanchez and the ongoing casino debt situation mean his legal troubles are far from over.
