Tank may not be a gymnast, but he has a knack for flipping classics. The singer is back with “Yes,” his first proper single of the year, which interpolates Floetry’s 2003 hit “Say Yes.”
Over a warm piano bed with added modern percussion, the R&B General stands at attention as he awaits the magic word from his woman to turn up the heat in the bedroom. “All you gotta do is say yes / Tell me how you want it then say less,” he sings.
“‘Yes’ is about taking a classic feeling and giving it new life,” says Tank. “Everybody remembers where they were when they first heard Floetry’s version. I wanted to pay homage while creating something that speaks to where we are today.”
Tank’s latest single arrives with a music video directed by Daniil Demichev. In the video, Tank surprises a fan at her birthday gathering with an intimate performance, followed by a candlelit massage.
“Yes” is the follow-up to “Control,” released in November 2025, which was inspired by Janet Jackson’s 1986 classic of the same title.
In March, the sensual jam hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, scoring Tank his 11th leader. It’s not clear if these two songs will appear on a future project or if they’re standalone singles since he declared 2022’s R&B Money as his final album.
The latter project featured four No. 1 R&B hits, including “I Deserve,” which sampled his 2001 classic “Maybe I Deserve,” and “Can’t Let It Show,” which sampled Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work.”
Tank, who recently wrapped up filming season four of Hulu’s legal drama Reasonable Doubt, has been spotted on the road supporting Usher and Chris Brown on their stadium outing, The R&B Tour. He, along with Mario and Eric Bellinger, has graciously provided background vocals for the R&B superstars.
Aside from his own music, Tank recently collaborated with Chris Brown on “#BodyGoals” from his latest album, BROWN, as well as teamed with Kehlani for a remix of her hit “Folded” from her Folded Homage Pack.
