“I started getting lost in my head for a long time,” he explains. “Since I was a kid, I always ended up in bad situations. I locked myself in a room until I got tired of feeling trapped in the darkness. Music became my escape.”
That escape eventually evolved into a purpose.
Growing Into the Artist He Was Meant to Be
When asked how his family would describe him before music versus today, the contrast tells the story of his personal growth.
Before pursuing music, they saw him as noble, impulsive, and happy. Today, they’d describe him as persistent, motivated, and, in his own words, “krazy”—a reflection of the relentless energy and ambition he’s poured into building his career.
Like many independent artists, his journey hasn’t been without setbacks.
After losing two music competitions, MAC36 GEEZY seriously considered walking away from music altogether. But instead of quitting, he realized something that changed his perspective forever.
“What I think is my best work might not be for everybody,” he says. “But there will always be people who connect with it. I make music for the people who love it. The support from those fans reminds me that I got this.”
Every Song Is a Chapter
Unlike artists who create fictional characters or tell someone else’s story, MAC36 GEEZY says every record reflects his own life.
Whether he’s celebrating success, describing the emotions after a night out, or documenting personal victories, every experience becomes another chapter in his catalog.
He points to milestones like winning the 801 Takeoffs 92.5 title belt as examples of moments woven into his lyrics.
“My lyrics might go over people’s heads,” he says, “but I really do talk about taking off like a rocket ship.”
After years of battling his thoughts in silence, he believes he’s finally becoming the loudest version of himself.
“This story is just beginning.”
Lessons Built on Hard Work
The work ethic that fuels his career comes directly from his parents.
Despite facing struggles of their own, they taught him resilience above everything else.
“They taught me to stay strong when life knocks you down,” he says. “Stop complaining about what you don’t have. Work hard for it. Everything you need to change your life is already in you.”
Those lessons continue to shape both his career and his mindset.
Music That Stays With You
MAC36 GEEZY doesn’t just want listeners to enjoy his songs in the moment—he wants them to carry the message long after the music ends.
“I want people to think about the lyrics,” he says. “I want them to feel where I’m coming from on every song—whether it’s power, turning up, or being dazed.”
While some people dismiss his music without giving it a chance, he believes those who actually listen quickly understand the authenticity behind it.
“People might think my music is random or ask, ‘Who is this guy?’ But the ones who really listen know I’m living what I rap about.”
A Father Before Anything Else
Away from the studio, there’s one role that means more than any title in music: father.
His son, Ruliz, is the motivation behind nearly everything he does today.
“I’m breaking cycles so my son doesn’t have to go through what I went through,” he says. “I want him to have a better life.”
He’s also passionate about film and storytelling, revealing that acting is another dream he’d like to pursue someday.
Advice to His Younger Self
Looking back at the beginning of his career, MAC36 GEEZY knows exactly what he’d tell the younger version of himself.
“Keep your head in the game. Don’t fall for distractions. Don’t worry about what everybody else has. If you stay serious, you’ll get better.”
It’s advice he continues to follow today.
Putting Utah on the Map
Five years from now, MAC36 GEEZY hopes his legacy reaches far beyond his own success.
He wants to be remembered as the artist who helped elevate Utah’s rap scene and opened doors for others chasing the same dream.
“I want to be the person who put Utah rap on the map—not just for myself, but for everybody else in the state trying to make it. Forget the outside noise. Let’s show them we can do it too.”
For MAC36 GEEZY, the mission has never been just about making records. It’s about overcoming adversity, inspiring others through honesty, and proving that even the darkest chapters can become the foundation for something greater.
