LONDON, UK — Jamaican-born powerhouse Bena González is shattering glass ceilings and borders alike with the release of her debut EP, Rich Immigrant. Marking a historic first for the genre, González becomes the first Dancehall artist to release a full visual EP, featuring a dedicated music video for every track to document her harrowing yet triumphant odyssey from the islands to the UK.
The lead single and title track, “Rich Immigrant,” serves as the project’s defiant anthem. Released on Friday, 1st May 2026, the track is a high-octane blend of Dancehall and Afro-Dancehall that flips the “victim” narrative on its head.

A Cinematic Journey: From Struggle to Resurrection
The visual component of the EP is a raw, chronological documentation of González’s life. It captures her arrival in the UK, the devastating loss of her start-up life savings to theft, and a grueling battle with the immigration system. The narrative follows her through:
● The Struggle: Missing family and surviving the “cold streets” while trapped within UK borders.
● The Breakthrough: Finally receiving her immigration status, allowing her to fly to a new country for the first time.
● The Resurrection: The visual for the lead single was filmed against the stunning backdrop of Puglia, Italy in August 2025, representing the literal and metaphorical freedom of an artist once labeled an “alien” in the system.
Elite Production & Visual Standards
To match the weight of her story, González collaborated with industry titans to ensure a polished, global sound.
● Sonic Excellence: The EP was recorded and mixed at the world-renowned Hot Money Studios, known for bridging authentic Jamaican Dancehall with cutting-edge UK sounds.
● World-Class Visuals: The music videos were captured on Netflix-approved Sony and RED cameras. The production team includes legendary director Hot Money, whose credits include Stormzy, Central Cee, and Stefflon Don, alongside directors who have worked with Ashley Walters (Top Boy) and K-Koke (Former Roc Nation).
“This song is for the dreamers who were met with closed doors,” says Bena González. “I’ve been at rock bottom, I’ve been the ‘alien’ in the system, but my spirit was never broke. ‘Rich Immigrant’ is about turning that trauma into a kingdom”.
