BELLAIRE, Ohio — Behind every successful independent music movement is someone willing to put in the work long before the spotlight arrives. For Billy Blaize, that commitment has become the foundation of The Council 2432, one of Ohio’s fastest-rising independent hip-hop collectives, and the driving force behind the group’s distinctive W€€d Suit Hero’s brand.
We recently sat down with Billy Blaize to discuss his introduction to the music industry, the importance of loyalty, and what motivates him to travel across the country promoting The Council 2432.
“I’ve always been a fan of hip-hop,” says Blaize. “So it wasn’t a difficult transition for me to step into management and eventually become president of the label. I was always there supporting Jag the Apostle when he was performing as a solo artist. When the team came to me and said they wanted to form a group, I was all in.”
Blaize says his role has always been about creating opportunities.
“I promised them I would do everything possible to get them in front of the right people and give them an opportunity to win. I believed in these guys from day one, and they believed in me. Loyalty means everything to me, and that’s become part of our brand.”
That loyalty began paying dividends in 2025 when The Council 2432 signed an imprint agreement with Dominion Hill Records, with distribution through Roc Nation Distribution, allowing the Ohio collective to release its master recordings on a larger platform while maintaining its independent identity.
Rather than relying solely on the deal, the group continued building its fan base the old-fashioned way, through consistent touring, grassroots marketing and a relentless connection with fans throughout the Ohio Valley. That momentum eventually grew into a national buzz, earning The Council 2432 opportunities to tour alongside legendary battle rapper Blind Fury, best known for his unforgettable run on BET’s 106 & Park Freestyle Friday, as well as performances connected to the nationally recognized Redneck Rave festival.
The partnership continued in the studio, where Blind Fury joined The Council 2432 on the single “Puff Puff Pass,” a feel-good summer anthem celebrating legal cannabis culture.
The Story Behind the W€€d Suit Hero’s Movement
One of the group’s most recognizable trademarks is its custom W€€d Suit Hero’s apparel, which has become synonymous with The Council 2432 wherever they perform.
When asked how the movement began, Blaize smiles.
“When people see The Council 2432, they usually see myself and Matt Cooper wearing the cannabis-print suits,” he says. “I’ve been an advocate for legal cannabis in Ohio for years. I was born on 4/20, the unofficial marijuana holiday, so it’s always been part of who I am.”
Blaize says his advocacy extends far beyond the music.
