Mystikal enters guilty plea to rape charges and faces prison time after years of legal battles in Louisiana.
Mystikal faced the courtroom after years of legal battles stemming from a 2022 arrest that derailed his comeback attempts.
The Louisiana rapper entered a guilty plea to third-degree rape in March 2026, trading away potential life sentences for a capped maximum of 20 years behind bars.
Days before his sentencing date, Mystikal’s legal team filed a motion seeking to overturn his guilty plea, claiming he didn’t have sufficient time to consider the consequences of his admission.
According to WBRZ, the filing stated he was under significant emotional distress and felt substantial pressure to make an immediate decision when he admitted to the crime on March 17.
Unfortunately, the rapper was handed a 20-year sentence. The verdict came after months of legal maneuvering and courtroom appearances in Ascension Parish.
The 2022 incident that triggered all of this involved an acquaintance at his Prairieville home.
According to arrest warrant details, Mystikal accused the woman of stealing money from him, then allegedly punched her, choked her, pulled braids from her hair, and took her keys and phone to prevent her from leaving.
He then forcibly raped her before sending himself money from her phone after the assault. The woman reported finding probable methamphetamine in the house while searching for the money she was accused of taking.
This isn’t Mystikal’s first encounter with sexual assault allegations.
In 2004, he was convicted of sexual battery against his hairdresser and served six years in prison following that conviction. He became a registered sex offender upon his release, a status that remained active when the 2022 arrest occurred.
