A Los Angeles man argued that Yard House, Cheesecake Factory, and Fogo de Chão all had top-tier happy hours. Then his post received a million views.
Derek, who runs the account Munch LA (@munch.la) on TikTok, posted a video where he explained exactly why those three restaurants have “top happy hours in the game.” His second post received 677,100 views, with viewers giving the content creator notes on their favorite spots.
Yard House: What’s the Best Option?
The first restaurant Derek discussed in his video is Yard House, which, to him, has a number of worthwhile offerings.
“The Yard House happy hour is half off all appetizers plus good deals on drinks,” Derek said. “But let me direct you specifically to the poke nachos and the chicken nachos, my two favorite. Guess how much this massive plate of nachos would cost? The answer is actually $9.50. What about for these poke nachos? Well, actually, it’s the same exact answer.”
Most appetizers at the popular restaurant chain cost between $14 and $20, according to Yard House Menus. In addition, restaurants typically offer guests $2 to $4 off on select drinks, which include “handcrafted cocktails, select wines by the glass, and spirits.” Guests receive $3 off 9-ounce wine pours and $4 off half-yards, a special 20-ounce glass that beer gets served in.
Yard House has happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, according to the restaurant chain’s website.
Fogo de Chão: What’s Good To Get?
Fogo de Chão, a restaurant typically known for its all-you-can-eat fire-roasted meats, offers guests the opportunity to take advantage of its happy hour from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. While the Brazilian steakhouse has more than a few offerings that Derek has previously discussed, the content creator turned his attention toward the restaurant’s “ $10 picanha burger, which comes with a side of crispy polenta.”
“This is a huge picanha burger for only 10 bucks with a side. And now let me actually show off my ball knowledge. On Tuesdays, you get a $1 caipirinha, limit two. So imagine getting this burger with two caipirinhas for literally 12 bucks,” Derek said in his video.
Caipirinhas are the national cocktail of Brazil. They’re made with cachaça, a Brazilian spirit similar to rum, as well as sugar, lime, and ice. And yes, they’re available for $1 on Tuesdays as part of the restaurant’s reward program. As part of the regular happy hour, most Brazilian-inspired cocktails are $8. Wine is $6, and beer is $4, according to Happy Hour Spot.
Derek also recommended a “sleeper”: the blister cheese with honey, which, according to the content creator, is $6 during happy hour.
Cheesecake Factory: What’s the Best Deal?
Derek didn’t leave the Cheesecake Factory out. Toward the end of his video, he named a number of deals that price-discerning customers can take advantage of.
“Everyone knows some highlights are the egg rolls, the fried mac and cheese, the sweet corn tamale, and even the happy hour burger. But where my input is really important is I tell you exactly how much these are discounted,” Derek said. “ All of these menu items you can expect between $19 and $20 normally. It’s all about a 40% discount, which is a really good deal for Cheesecake Factory, plus you get the bread.”
The Cheesecake Factory does offer guests a 40% discount during happy hour. In addition, most beers, wines, and cocktails are discounted. Cocktails are roughly $2 to $3 cheaper, according to the happy hour website Eat Hours Today! Beer is between $4 and $6, while wine is between $5 and $8, depending on the glass.
The restaurant chain usually offers its happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., although Eat Hours Today! notes that its happy hour can vary from location to location.
‘Bjs Brewhouse Has a Great Happy Hour Too’
Viewers who have previously gone to the three restaurant chains Derek mentioned added their thoughts in the comments section. Many viewers said they enjoyed the Yard House appetizers and drinks, for instance.
“This sangria was $8 and tastes like summer time @ yardhouse,” one person said.

Other viewers, however, said that some happy hour deals just reflect the prices of regular food pre-COVID.
