T.I. says comedy is calling him back, but with Kill The King on deck, the rap legend still has a few more moves to make before exiting stage left.
T.I. is staring down the release of Kill The King while already plotting his next act, and according to the King of the South himself, that next chapter has a lot more punchlines than punch bars.
On the eve of Juneteenth, T.I. took the stage in New York and delivered a message that probably made Hip-Hop fans both excited and a little nervous. In a brief clip obtained by AllHipHop, the Atlanta legend suggested that this latest musical run may be just that, a run. This is like one final lap around the track before heading somewhere entirely different.
Comedy.

Now, if you’ve been paying attention, this shouldn’t come as a complete surprise. T.I. has repeatedly said that standup comedy has become a genuine passion. His happy place. In fact, he has often described it as a place where he feels challenged in ways rap no longer can. After decades of platinum albums, chart success, movie roles and business ventures, it seems music comes naturally to him. Comedy, on the other hand, still requires him to prove himself.
And if there’s one thing we know about Tip, he doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable situations.
He revealed that he’ll be returning to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. For those with long memories, that’s the same venue he got booed crazily. AllHipHop was there for that unforgettable night. The crowd wasn’t exactly handing out standing ovations. Still, T.I. absorbed the criticism, kept moving and never abandoned the craft.
That moxie is paying off.
Before he fully embraces life behind the microphone stand instead of the recording booth, there’s still plenty of business to handle. Kill The King arrives in just days, and T.I. is supporting the project while continuing to tour alongside his sons, helping introduce the next generation of Harris talent to audiences around the country.
After all, T.I. has little left to prove. His place in rap history is secure. Comedy is cool. And if that is what is calling him, so be it. Hip-Hop won’t stop listening regardless.
